What We’re Watching This Week

MEGAN : Three more Christmas movies for your viewing pleasure. I love popping on a Christmas movie while I wrap gifts, soak in the tub (on my iPad) or really anytime.

  • Last Christmas (Netflix) Christmas with a twist. Set in London, (I cannot get enough of the London Christmas scene) Kate works in a Christmas shop and meets Tom who changes her life.
  • The Holiday (Netflix) Nobody does holiday movies like Nancy Meyers. Brit and Kate swap houses (after breaking up with their boyfriends) for the holidays. This is my favorite Christmas movie.
  • The Holdovers (Prime) is about the boys that “holdover” at boarding school during winter break. This was filmed at Deerfield Academy (my husband’s alma mater). Boarding school stories are one of my favorite tropes.

CHRISTA : If you haven’t watched Landman (Paramount+) yet, you are definitely missing out! Season 2 premiered in November, and it’s a good one! Add this to your list to binge over the holidays.

What We’re Wearing: Outfit Ideas for Women Over 50

CHRISTA : This look is so easy to wear—and even easier to recreate. While my exact pieces are older or sold out, everything you need to recreate the outfit is on the Quince website. Their pieces are high-quality, affordable, and perfect for building a wardrobe you’ll reach for again and again.

Try pairing a cream sweater with a leopard slip skirt, or go with Megan’s tried-and-true monochrome formula and match a solid slip skirt to your sweater. Either way, it’s one of those outfits you can wear almost anywhere, almost year-round—and who doesn’t love stretching their wardrobe budget with versatile staples like these?

MEGAN : This jacket is a gem! I’ve been singing it’s praises all fall and now it’s winter weather worthy too. The windchill was in the teens the other morning and I jumped into my favorite fleece lined tights (from Amazon) and layered up with a hat, gloves, wool socks and a scarf. I was *almost* sweating by the end. If you enjoy an outdoor walk like me, these fleece lined tights are a MUST.

Fit tip: The inseam on the tights is 28 inches. A little long for me, but perfect if you are over 5’4.

What We’re Loving: Everyday Favorites Worth Sharing

MEGAN : Have you noticed all the cool girlies are wearing short platform Uggs? As a short girl (I’m 5’1) I have to confess I’m intrigued by the extra inch or two. However, I’m not sure this is a trend that I want to commit “full price” to. My friend has the Amazon version and they are perfection. Is the suede slightly less quality? Probably. Do they look the same? Yes. Pro tip: The Amazon version are: fully stocked, 1.9k 5 star reviews, under $40 and come in wide width!

CHRISTA : With just a quick trip to Trader Joe’s, you’ll have everything you need for your holiday charcuterie board. Hosting doesn’t get any easier than that! This is my go to when I’m having guests over. The Trader Joe’s Creamy Toscano Cheese Soaked in Syrah is definitely a favorite!

Mini Style Fix: What to Wear to See the Holiday Lights

The Mini Style Fix is like your stylish bestie whispering, “Wear this, you’ll look fabulous”—these bite-sized tips are fast, fun, and totally doable.

Does your family drive around and look at the holiday lights in your town? Time to start a new tradition. We love a comfortable and cute layered look for riding around and admiring your neighbors lights. Don’t forget a hot beverage.

MEGAN : Nothing beats forced family fun, like driving around in the car together looking at holiday lights. I like to be casual and comfortable, aka warm, a hot latte is also a necessary accessory. As Christa mentioned, when adding festive items to your closet — choose guilt free when you know you can wear the items beyond the holiday season. This pink fair isle sweater will look great all winter, Valentine’s day and well into those chilly March days that we WANT it to be spring but it’s still winter.

Style Tip: These (faux) Uggs come in WIDE WIDTH! Otherwise true to size. Fully stocked and arrive in two days via Prime. You won’t believe the price.

CHRISTA : Take in all the holiday lights—while staying warm and cozy, too! Whether you’re driving around or strolling through your favorite botanical garden, this outfit delivers maximum comfort, coziness, and warmth. Even better, every piece works well beyond the holidays, and most are budget-friendly Amazon finds. Once the season wraps, you can keep wearing this two-piece set for travel days or laid-back lounging. (The internet loves this two piece set; it has almost 5,000 five star reviews!) It feels festive now, but totally wearable later—no “holiday-specific outfit guilt” required!

Just for Fun: Smart Finds & Random Little Joys

CHRISTA : GIFT ALERT! 10/10 recommend this blanket! It’s the softest, coziest throw for movie nights, and the slight weight to it makes it even better (don’t worry, it’s not “weighted blanket” heavy!). The throw size is under $40, but I upgraded to the twin for extra snuggle factor (around $66). Such a perfect gift for anyone—whoever gets it will absolutely love it!

I think I have EVERYTHING on Megan’s what to wear list. The JCrew sweater comes in cardigan for women (got it), my Uggs are not platform, my toggle coat is green, the turtlenecks are $11 at JCrew factory story and exactly the same shirt as in regular JCrew (I have both), jeans, hat different color. Bingo, I’ve got it all!
