What We’re Watching This Week
MEGAN : My Oxford Year (Netflix) adapted from Julia Whelan’s book is the perfect rainy afternoon movie. It’s a curl up on the couch and drink tea, you might cry, kind of movie. Anna, an American woman, goes to Oxford to get her master’s degree for a year. She has a bucket list of things to do and experience while she’s in England – one of which is NOT fall in love with her professor. Oops.
CHRISTA : Could you survive life in the 1800’s as a homesteader? Three modern families make their way through 1800’s living in Back to the Frontier (HBO Max), a reality show by Chip and Joanna Gaines. Watch each week to see the new challenges these families face–milking cows, building walls, making furniture, plowing fields. They do it all! Kudos to all of them for their effort!
What We’re Wearing: Outfit Ideas for Women Over 50
CHRISTA : It’s an add to cart kind of day! Short sleeve sweaters are everywhere for fall. If last week’s colorful sweater was too much color for you, try this one from Nordstrom. This under $60 sweater is made from a very light, soft alpaca-and-wool blend, and is a great layering piece with your favorite jacket. Comes in three colors, runs TTS.

MEGAN : I popped into Aritzia with my favorite college co-ed and much to my surprise I matched the mannequin. The cropped trench is timeless; for college girlies to moms on the go, empty nesters, working girlies and grannies. Everyone will be rocking a cropped trench this fall, winter and spring. Pick yours up now so you get the most use out of it. Dare I say it’s the “new” jean jacket?
Fit tip: Your cropped trench isn’t just for rainy days! It’s the perfect layer for the first cool days of fall. Throw it on and wear it with everything, shorts – jeans – black pants. It’s the topper that can take you everywhere.

What We’re Loving: Everyday Favorites Worth Sharing
MEGAN :A look for less – one of these blouses is $248 and the other is $88. The Doen blouse is $248, it has a few more high end details and the fabric is slightly softer (gauzy-ier). The Madewell blouse ($88) is a very affordable and extremely similar alternative. Perfect with jeans, a skirt, jean shorts or chinos.

CHRISTA : Obsessed with these Zella tees for workouts and walks! They’re lightweight, perfectly cut (not too short, not too long), breathable, moisture-wicking, and have just the right amount of stretch. Plus—they wash beautifully. I’ll take one in every color! I also linked the long sleeve, plus size and sleeveless versions below.

Mini Style Fix: Your Stylish Dog
The Mini Style Fix is like your stylish bestie whispering, “Wear this, you’ll look fabulous”—these bite-sized tips are fast, fun, and totally doable.
This week, we’ve literally gone to the dogs. In honor of National Dog Day on August 26, we’re sharing some favorites for your stylish dog! Why shouldn’t your dog look fabulous, too?
MEGAN : Lets celebrate the dog days of summer. There is nothing cuter than a dog wearing a bow tie, tee shirt or sweater. Some of our furry friends are a little more low key. Here are a few of my “fancy dog” favorites. Each one is tried and approved by Miss Lexie. She doesn’t love her $40 wool sweater, but she wears it on snowy days because it makes her mom happy.

CHRISTA : Dress up your pup with the cutest collars from Mimi Green! They’ve been my go-to for years, with endless colors and patterns in collars, harnesses, and leashes—plus fun add-ons like flowers and bow ties. I especially love the laminated styles (super easy to keep clean!) and the engraved buckle. Give your furry friend a fresh new look today!
I’ve also linked our favorite harness for walks—plus our go-to leash. We’ve used this combo for years and it’s been great! I especially love the low handle on the leash—super helpful when your dog gets a little too excited passing other pups.

Just for Fun: Smart Finds & Random Little Joys
CHRISTA : This is hands-down the best tool we’ve used to get hair off our dogs and cats. One side tackles shedding, the other handles matting—and wow, just wait until you see how much comes off after one go (equal parts satisfying and gross). Use it regularly and your pet’s coat will be smoother, shinier, and way less likely to leave a trail on your couch.
Pro tip: It’s best on pets with thick coats or that have a sneaky undercoat that never seems to quit!

MEGAN : Headed on one last summer road trip? I just finished the perfect book to listen to while you drive or read while you soak in the last days on the beach. I’ve been a huge Beatriz Williams fan for years. Her books weave modern day with historical fiction and my favorite part is that the many of the characters or their families show up in other books. Like a thread that ties the stories together, not a necessity to have read one before the other. Beatriz Williams’ latest book, Under the Stars is the story of a mother and daughter that return to their family summer home to recenter, take a break from life. There is an art heist, a question of paternity, love interests and the recounting of an 1880s shipwreck that somehow ties ALL of the stories together.
