weekly walk and talk

Friends Share the Good Stuff

Thanks for joining us for our Walk and Talk! We’re two friends who love sharing the good stuff—great books, shows we’re hooked on, cute things we’ve found while shopping, and all the little things that make life over 50 feel really good. Nothing too trendy, just what’s current and actually works. Think of this as your weekly walk with friends who always have something fun (and useful) to share. We’re so glad you’re here!

What We’re Watching

MEGAN : Netflix served me The Royals this week and I am not mad about it. A rom-com-drama about a Prince and the CEO of a company that fall in love while her company and his palace fall apart. It is set in present day but somehow gave me Bridgerton vibes. The costumes and sets are spectacular. If you are a fan of Bridgerton check out The Royals.

CHRISTA : After 8 years, we finally said good-bye to June this week in the series finale of The Handmaid’s Tale (Hulu). No spoilers here in case you’re not caught up. If you’ve been watching from the beginning, what did you think? Leave a comment! Will you be tuning in to the spinoff, The Testaments?

What We’re Wearing

CHRISTA : I might need to start a new Walk and Talk section — “First one’s so nice, I bought it twice!” This week, I’m sharing another repeat purchase, this time from Tommy Bahama, the Tobago Bay Half Zip dress. I love everything about this for an easy breezy summer look, still feels put together, but comfortable, too. Plus, it has POCKETS! Comes in three colors on the Tommy Bahama site, and I also linked a white one from Bloomingdales. (And here’s a roundup of all the summer dresses I’ve been sharing lately.)

Fit tip: Runs TTS. And the length is a great 35″, which for me at 5’4 is ideal for a fun summer dress, not too short.

MEGAN : Remember this look for less from a few weeks ago? It’s Splendid and I found it at Nordstrom Rack for an incredible price. I’ve been wearing this elevated sweatsuit a lot on these chilly, rainy days. I also wore it on my MDW roadtrip to the Eastern Shore. Very comfortable, I’ve washed and dried it – no shrinkage and runs true to size. Comes in white, navy and pink.

What We’re Loving (and Think You Might Too!)

MEGAN : I’ve noticed that things aren’t as (a-hem) perky as they used to be. Time for a new bra with better support. After some research I took the SOMA recommendation from T.I.B.A.L, and she nailed it! Full coverage, front closure, straps adjust FROM THE FRONT and a soft wide back for smoothing. I like it so much I already ordered another.

CHRISTA : As we head into the summer travel season, just wanted to pass along a reminder. Add an Apple AirTag to all your checked bags. My daughter recently had her luggage stolen from the airport baggage claim—police saw the thief on security footage. She’s spent countless hours contacting various agents on the phone and trying to recall everything that was in the bag for reimbursement. From now on, we’ll all be placing an Apple AirTag inside every suitcase, carry-on, and sightseeing bag. Here’s a helpful article on using AirTags to make your travel less stressful.

Mini Style Fix: Summer Outfits That Aren’t Another Dress

It’s a “mini style fix” this week with some summer outfit ideas! We love a good summer dress—but sometimes you just want a great pair of shorts or breezy linen pants. Today, we’re sharing two easy summer outfit ideas that are cool, comfortable, and totally dress-free.

MEGAN : My friend JJ swears by a linen jumpsuit, and she always looks like a million bucks. Wear it with sneakers for running errands or wedges for a girls lunch and date night. A jumpsuit is the perfect alternative to a dress because it’s still one and done dressing. Protip: The orange sweater is an Amazon find under $35, looks much more expensive.

CHRISTA : Everyone can wear shorts—age doesn’t matter! It’s all about finding the length that feels right. At 5’4″, I love a 6″–7″ inseam—bermudas feel too long, and shorter styles too bare. If you’re looking, try the Borocay shorts from Tommy Bahama—they come in 5″, 7″, 10″, and 15″ lengths with lots of colors and prints to choose from!

Random Stuff We Like

MEGAN : I’ve been on a rom-com bender this month. Highly recommend these three books for your summer beach bag. I loved each one – they were highly entertaining (One Golden Summer was a bit of a BRAD!) If you are looking for light, escapism, happy books these should be on your reading list.

CHRISTA : Bought a two pack, one for each car. When the sunlight hits the screen, I won’t cringe anymore at how dusty and fingerprint-y it is!
