Easy Ways to Show Your Love On Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day isn’t just for romance—it’s the perfect excuse to show your friends and family a little extra love! It doesn’t have to be fancy or time-consuming. Sometimes, the simplest gestures mean the most. Here are a few easy ways to reach out on Valentine’s Day and make someone’s day special.

  1. Send a quick text: A heartfelt “thinking of you” or “happy Valentine’s Day” can go a long way. Bonus points if you add a funny meme or a favorite memory you share.
  2. Drop off a surprise gift: Swing by with a small treat like their favorite chocolate, a cute mug, or even a single flower. It’s a simple way to say, “You matter to me.”
  3. Plan a virtual hangout: If you can’t meet in person, set up a quick video call to catch up and share a laugh—it’s like a virtual hug!
  4. Write a little note: A handwritten card or even a sticky note left somewhere they’ll find it feels extra special.
  5. Share something nostalgic: Send a photo or song that reminds you of a fun moment together. It’s a great way to bring back those good vibes.
  6. Go for a walk: Valentine’s Day is a perfect day for a heart-healthy Walk and Talk with a friend. It’s good for the body and the soul.

Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be over-the-top. Celebrate the little things that make your heart happy—because love, in all its forms, is worth celebrating. ❤️

What’s on the Blog

It’s not too late to plan a party with the girls for Valentine’s Day. Our favorite party…a Favorite Things Party of course! It’s easy to host, and you’ll have tons of fun! If Valentine’s Day feels too soon, plan now for a fun early spring get-together.

Whether it’s a bigger group or a small get together, here are some fun party essentials you might like:

Don’t miss last week’s Walk and Talk. We shared some tips for eating healthy, along with our other finds, shows and fun stuff.

What We’re Wearing

CHRISTA : It’s a winter uniform–a favorite pair of denim paired with a classic fair isle sweater! Sadly my sweater is selling out in most sizes, so I’ve linked a few below that I know you’ll like just as much, all from brands I’ve purchased before. We still have a lot of winter left to wear our sweaters, so treat yourself to a new one.

MEGAN : This is what I wear most days. I throw this outfit on to walk the dog then head to a workout and from there to run errands at the market or Target. Typically I subscribe to the “column of color” method of dressing, even when I’m in my workout clothes, but these green leggings spoke to me. Something about the bright, cheerful green made me feel like spring is closer than the snowy landscape is indicating. Pro tip: If you walk or exercise outside during winter, you MUST TRY the Athleta fleece lined leggings. GAME CHANGER.

What We’re Shopping For

MEGAN : I’ve been shopping for the perfect pair of brown Chelsea boots and nothing seemed quite right. The wrong brown, not enough lug sole, too much lug sole, too short – too tall. And then I found these Bed Stu chelsea boots in BLUE and it totally clicked. I needed blue boots, not brown. The red sole is amazing, they are comfortable and look even better in person. Moral of the story – sometimes what you’re looking for isn’t what you THINK you’re looking for. Pro tip: size up a 1/2 size in the Bed Stu chelsea boots. Click photo for links.

CHRISTA : Just arrived this week—and these slippers are a winner! Why do I think you need them? Because the fleece lining feels like a cozy hug for your feet! But also, if you’ve ever dealt with plantar fasciitis, you know how important it is to avoid walking barefoot at home—these slippers offer the support you need.

What We’re Watching

MEGAN : I’ve been binging Younger on Netflix. The perfect 20 minute episodes that are light and funny. Liza is a 40 year old posing as a 26 year old to get back into the publishing world in NYC. The capers of a Gen X masquerading as a millennial are hilarious.

CHRISTA : If true crime is your thing, check out The Breakthrough on Netflix. It’s a fictional retelling of a real life double murder in Sweden in 2004. The case goes unsolved for 16 years, when they use genealogy and DNA to solve it. It’s also a touching account of how the murders impacted not only the families involved, but also the toll it takes on the lives of those tasked with solving it. It’s four episodes that you can binge in a day or weekend, not much longer than a movie. Note that the show is in Swedish, but you can watch it with subtitles or voice dubbing (or both!).

Random Stuff We Like

MEGAN : The Oscar nominations are out, how many of the nominated films have you seen? Each year I try to watch all the films in the Best Picture category — so far I’ve seen two. Time to pop some popcorn.

CHRISTA : Skinny jeans are coming back for 2025…or did they ever really leave? I can’t keep up, so instead I’ll just wear what I love, what fits me well, and what makes me feel good. When you do that, you’ll have more confidence–which is always a good look. And like Southern Living said so well, “denim is truly at the mercy of the body that is wearing it.” So choose YOUR best fit and rock it! Who cares what “the trends” say.

If you’re grabbing a new pair of skinnies, Southern Living suggests choosing a more modern cut that’s not “painted-on skinny” but a tad looser from the knee down (hmmm….isn’t that what we called slim straight?). Also, to get the right length, try something that hits right at the ankle bone. Pair them with your cutest ballet flats for a modern look.

What Was Popular in January

Caroline Chambers cook book What to Cook When You Don’t Feel Like Cooking is on your list of favorites for January. I’ve never made a bad meal from this book. Everyone’s a winner!

The Caddis Aviator style readers are the quickest way to elevate your nerd chic vibe. All the cool girls are wearing them.

The ultimate in luxury athleisure is a cashmere hoodie. We love Quince for their transparent pricing AND their high quality craftmanship.

This lighter weight Zella Luxe French Terry Sweatshirt is legging-friendly and definitely a “wear-on-repeat” piece.

It’s that time of year when we need waterproof boots. These Sofft Emeline Waterproof Wedge Bootie (Women) are both practical AND stylish!

Start your new year with fresh sneakers and commit to more walks. These Brooks Glycerin 20 Running Shoe took Christa through Disney and they’ve been her favorites for Walk and Talks for years.
