Today we’re reflecting on the new possibilities that a new year brings. As we step into 2025, we’re thrilled to bring a fresh perspective to our Walk and Talks—focusing on what matters to us as women over 50. Amazing New Possibilities in the New Year

The new year is a perfect time to hit reset and think about what you want in the months ahead. For women over 50, it’s a time to celebrate the freedom and wisdom this stage of life brings. Instead of feeling pressured by grand resolutions, focus on setting small, meaningful goals that spark joy and excitement. Consider what truly lights you up—whether it’s exploring an old hobby, discovering a workout routine that energizes you, volunteering for a cause you care about, or even pursuing a career shift.

This is also a time to embrace the joy of life. It could mean reconnecting with loved ones, planning that long-dreamed-of vacation, or finally signing up for that cooking class you’ve been eyeing. Small shifts can have a big impact on your emotional and physical well-being. The key is to keep things positive, fun, and focused on what makes life fulfilling for you.

Why not make 2025 your year of amazing new possibilities?

To stay motivated, share your goals with a friend! Go for a walk & talk—chat about your plans and what excites you most for the year ahead. Accountability can make the journey even more rewarding! You can also download our 30 day walk challenge. Many of these walks can be done from your treadmill (or walk at the mall) to stay warm! And you don’t have to do them in order. How many can you check off this month to kick off a year of healthy habits?

What We’re Wearing

CHRISTA : Looking for a workout boost? Start with new sneakers! My top picks for walking are the OnCloud Monster and Brooks Glycerin 20 (newer Glycerin 21 & 22 versions linked; reviews coming soon). After battling plantar fasciitis, I tested plenty of shoes and confidently recommend these brands. For convenience, I love Kizik slip-ons for errands and dog walks, and FitFlop Rally were a lifesaver for 20,000-step days at Disney (the knit pair are great for summer and only $55)!

P.S. Don’t miss the Zella sweatshirt I’m wearing—lightweight, longer in the back (leggings-approved!), and available in seven colors (two on sale). Size down for the perfect fit!

MEGAN : I’ve been singing the praises of the GAP vegan leather pants for several years now. They come in tall, regular and petite – fully stocked and on sale for $30. I’ve worn them so many times for different events during the holidays that the cost per wear at this point is pennies. They stretch – but don’t lose their shape, they’re warm – but not hot, true to size and can be casual or dressy. Having these in my closet makes getting ready at the last minute easy.

What We’re Shopping For

CHRISTA : I was influenced by a FB ad and I’m not mad about it! Love this absolutely adorable warm puffy dog vest! Easy to put on–dog just steps into the leg holes and it zips on top. It’s wind and water resistant. The harness is built-in which makes for easy leash attachment. It’s absolutely perfect for winter dog walks. The sizing was easy, too – I went by my dogs’ weights and got a perfect fit for each. How cute are Josie and Shelby in their matching ensembles–I might need a pink vest, too!

MEGAN : After the holidays I feel like I’m coming off a shopaholic bender, which tbh, I am. Anthropologie totally got me with this sweatshirt. The rhyming message and the red – I could not resist. I’m justifying it by telling myself I’ll wear it for Valentine’s Day, too.

What We’re Reading in January

CHRISTA : As a quick last minute purchase, I downloaded The Housemaid by Freida McFadden on my Kindle to read over the holidays. It’s been on the Amazon Top 20 chart of “Most Sold & Most Read Books of the Week” for 108 weeks now! And I’m always up for a good thriller. It’s a fast read, too–perfect for a lounging by the pool on vacation!

MEGAN : James by Percival Everett, a NYT bestseller, short listed for the Booker Prize, finalist for the Pulitzer, Spielberg bought the movie rights–to say this book is having a moment would be an understatement. This is the Huckleberry Finn story reimagined from enslaved Jim’s point of view.

What We’re Watching

MEGAN : Elsbeth (Paramount + via Prime), a “dramedy”, was recommended to me and it’s been the best “holiday week” binge. Two seasons out and you will be left wanting more. 91% on Rotten Tomatoes. Each episode is a self contained mystery that is solved so you can pick up anywhere. The official blurb says it best:

“Elsbeth Tascioni, the astute but unconventional attorney, works with the NYPD to catch New York’s most well-heeled murderers utilizing her unique point of view. “Elsbeth” is based on the character featured in “The Good Wife” and “The Good Fight.” “

CHRISTA : No Good Deed (Netflix) made for a perfect binge on a recent five-hour flight. Starring Lisa Kudrow and Ray Romano as Paul and Lydia, an empty-nest couple trying to sell their home, the show delivers sharp humor and suspense. Paul and Lydia desperately try to hide family secrets from a cast of cutthroat would-be buyers. It’ll keep you guessing right up until the end.

Random Stuff We Like

MEGAN : The new year always has we wanting to clean out, rearrange and redecorate, this article is an excellent inspiration and a peek inside Meyers real life home. As a long time fan of film maker Nancy Meyers, famous for; The Holiday, Father of the Bride and Somethings Gotta Give (to name a few of the many). Meyers is, perhaps, the originator of the “coastal grandmother” aesthetic (AD article detailing her design prowess). However it is the sets, costumes and decor that have me wanting to live inside one of her movies.
