Walk and Talk with Us This Week

As we prepare for the end of daylight saving time, (we turn the clocks BACK one hour at 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 3rd) there are several strategies to combat the winter blues that often accompany the earlier sunsets.

First, start paying attention to your sleep hygiene, to help your body adjust to the time shift, go to bed and wake up at the same time each day. This can promote better sleep quality. Embrace natural light during the day, take short walks outside, especially in the morning, to boost mood and energy levels. Incorporating light therapy lamps can also help mimic sunlight and improve your mood when the days grow shorter.

Additionally, engage in activities you love—whether it’s joining a book club, attending a workout class, or try a cooking or pottery class—all of these ideas provide social interaction and engagement with others during these darker months. Prioritizing self-care and maintaining connections with friends and family can also foster a sense of community and positivity as the seasons change.

When you feel those winter blues creeping in, call a friend and go for a walk and talk. Catch up on what shows you’re watching, what you’re cooking for dinner, and what’s in your Amazon cart.

In today’s Walk and Talk, we’re sharing…

What’s On the Blog

Looking for the perfect Thanksgiving outfit that strikes a balance between style and comfort? In our latest post, we have a range of chic and cozy outfits for wherever your holiday takes you. And they’ll have you looking fabulous while still enjoying all the food, family, and fun. Whether you’re hosting, traveling, cooking, shopping, visiting, or simply enjoying a quiet gathering, we’ve got you covered something to wear!

What We’re Watching

MEGAN : Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story (Netflix) This true crime docu-series (nine episodes) tells the story of the the Menendez brothers and how/why they murdered their parents. It happened in 1989 and I remember it being in the news but I didn’t *know* the whole story. Wow, hard to watch but hard to look away. Bonus points for putting Milli Vanilla back in my head, still know all the words.

CHRISTA : Loading up my iPad for an upcoming trip. The first thing I’m downloading is Woman of the Hour (Netflix). Has anyone seen it? No spoilers, but would love to hear what you thought. Leave a comment below!

What We’re Wearing

CHRISTA : Another outfit for “booties and sweater season!” Sweater from LOFT; jeans by Risen from Social Threads. The jeans are technically ankle length (26″ inseam) but I’m 5’4″, so they are longer for me, but perhaps not long enough with a heel? I think they’d be the perfect length if I were wearing flats. Does anyone else have trouble finding the right length of denim, especially in wide leg styles?

MEGAN : I recently went to my first music festival. It was at the beach, like in the sand. Although it was cool and the music was fantastic, I just don’t think I’m a festival girlie. Here’s what I wore day one. Did I mention it was THREE DAYS long, and a hurricane came through the first day/evening?

What We’re Shopping For

MEGAN : I’m hosting Thanksgiving dinner this year and my table decor needed an update. After searching high and low for something new and spectacular I stumbled on this fetching gobbler at (drum roll) my local Target! Best $40 I’ve spent all week. Tom Turkey has been getting lots of props from everyone that comes in my kitchen, even the teenaged boys are enthralled.

CHRISTA : Can you believe these beauties are from Target, shoes for $40 and clutch for $20? This would be a great time to get your accessories ready for the holiday season. Yes, the shoes did come home with me. And yes, I did order the clutch. They’ll go with everything from a dressed up denim look to a LBD, transforming your closet favorites for the holidays. Shoes run TTS. And, I’ve linked some other similar shoe styles below to give you some options.

What’s New (and Under $100) from Nordstrom

CHRISTA : Is it possible to have too much athleisure? NOT AT ALL! This new sweater from Zella ($89) is in my cart! I love this collar and the quarter zip style, too. I’d wear this with leggings, but also think it works with denim, too.

MEGAN : Fall layers are my jam and anything I can wear with jeans and tee but still be cozy, comfortable and cute is a winner. This sweater is giving major Sezane vibes but with a $79 price tag.

What’s Happening Behind the Scenes

MEGAN : The leaves in northern Virginia have been spectacular this week. Mother Nature is really showing off. (No filter)

CHRISTA : Who else snaps pics of things they find while shopping? I was shopping with Megan and found this adorable coat at Abercrombie. I wasn’t quite ready to buy it yet since it comes in five colors–I wanted to check my closet first to figure out which color to choose. (And I’m hoping it goes on sale soon!)
