Walk and Talk | 08.16.2024

Welcome to the Walk and Talk! Each week, we chat about our favorite shows and books, recent shopping finds (including Amazon gems), and all the fun stuff friends love to share. We’re excited to share it with you! #friendssharethegoodstuff

Walk and Talk with Us This Week

When you’re getting your Walk and Talks done, remember to stay hydrated, too. Even mild dehydration can affect your mood, energy levels, and overall health.

As we age, our bodies don’t retain moisture as well. In youth, we are 60-70% water; after menopause, women may be only 55% water, which is a substantial drop. (Source)

Keep a water bottle with you to make it easier to remember to drink regularly. Staying hydrated supports all bodily functions and helps maintain your well-being. Something as simple as drinking more water can even help with those annoying hot flashes and other menopause symptoms!

On your next Walk and Talk, bring a friend, but remember your water, too! 💦

In today’s Walk and Talk, we’re sharing…

  • A chef’s biopic not to be missed
  • A “modern Nancy Drew” whodunit
  • Getting ready for fall with white jeans or try a splurge cashmere tee
  • Something fun for your first care package of the school year
  • Shopping for a new toiletry bag
  • Goldilocks approved sheets
  • The cutest game day tumblers–go team!

ICYMI…What’s On the Blog

We’re revisiting our favorites from Trader Joe’s this week on the blog. They’re tried-and-true must haves that will make meal prep and entertaining a breeze. What’s your favorite?

What We’re Watching

MEGAN : Anyone remember Charlie Trotter? The Charlie Trotter biopic on Netflix is really good. He was the first big time American chef (based in Chicago). Charlie’s leadership style and innovative, forward thinking cooking style made his restaurants highly successful. Many young chefs that trained in his kitchens went on to be successful chefs (Michelin stars) themselves. Like most of us, Charlie was a complicated person and through interviews with his family, wives and friends we get a full picture of this insanely talented man that had a massive impact on not just the restaurant industry but the way we eat.

CHRISTA : A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder on Netflix, based on the YA book series by Holly Jackson, is “modern Nancy Drew” with just six very binge-able episodes. AGGGTM follows high school senior Pip Fitz-Amobi as she tries to solve the disappearance of a local high school student. It’s described as “the streaming series equivalent of a page-turner you zip through while sitting on the porch or relaxing on the beach.” (source) It’s easy to watch, and great to binge on a rainy day. Enjoy!

What We’re Wearing

CHRISTA : This cashmere tee from J.Crew is a small splurge, but it’s a perfect transition piece to head into fall. Pair it with everything you already own — white denim, dark denim, your favorite non-denim, a midi skirt, a layering piece under a blazer. Easy to accessorize, comes in eight colors and runs TTS.

MEGAN : Starting to look forward to cooler temps and I’m prepping myself with white jeans and a button up. There is something about blue and white that says eternal summer to me. I love that these pieces are in heavy rotation in my closet from spring through fall. Shoot, I wear this button up year round! Look for pieces to wear that go beyond one season.

What We’re Shopping For

MEGAN : I found a new toiletry bag that I’m OB-sessed with. One of my girls had a similar one at the beach and I just found this one on Amazon. Gotta love 4-8 a.m. next day delivery. I’m really curious to know if all my lotions and potions will stay 1) standing and 2) more organized with this system. Cross your fingers and watch IG stories to see the results! Under $30.

CHRISTA : Get ready for game day! How cute is this new game day collection of mugs and tumblers from Swig Life? Grab a few for your first tailgate!

What We Found on Amazon

CHRISTA : Here’s something fun to add to your first college care package this year! Put these gumballs in a plastic container from the dollar store and tie a cute ribbon around it. Super tasty flavors, and your college student will love keeping these on their desk.

MEGAN : I am a lover of many things, and good sheets are very high on that list. However, I’m picky; not too scratchy, but not too slippery and definitely not wrinkley — who am I Goldilocks? These Laura Ashley sheets from Amazon not only look amazing with that cute block print but they are very comfortable. Best part, after each wash they keep getting softer. That’s the holy grail in my book.

Random Stuff We Like

MEGAN : Have you heard of the 30-30-30 method? I had no idea what it was, but this Women’s Health article explains it really well. CHRISTA : Starting to see a lot of pre-fall clothing popping in your inbox? Before you start buying for the upcoming season, take a few minutes in your closet to look at what you wore this summer. If there is anything you didn’t wear (or wore but didn’t really like) now is a good time to purge it. If you didn’t wear it or didn’t love it, chances are you won’t wear it next summer either. What You Loved This Week

This week’s top three included a fall decor find from Target–this tray would be perfect on a coffee table filled with pumpkins and faux leaves. (For more Target fall decor, click here.) And, for a quick one-and-done early fall outfit, try Christa’s dress. It’s under $30 from Amazon. It pairs perfectly with these super comfortable FitFlop Rally sneakers for a day or errands (or pack this combo for sightseeing on your fall vacay).
