Do you ever shop the “what’s new” section on your favorite retailer’s website (or sort the list by newest to see what they recently added)? We did in search of some new fall fashion, and we found so many new things we loved that we knew we had to share. #friendssharethegoodstuff
The fall finds are so good — we started off planning to each share six items, and as you’ll see, we found much more!
Today’s post is all about new fall fashion finds from some of our favorite retailers. You can also find some summer to fall outfit inspiration on the blog.
There were some clear trends standing out as we browsed the new arrivals. If you’re looking for a few updates, try one of these options:
- Look for on trend colors – army/olive green, chocolate brown, caramel, navy blue, plum and wine.
- Try some wide leg or flare jeans or pants – of course, we recommend the Itty Bitty boot cut jeans from Wit & Wisdom.
- We’re also finding a lot of cargo-style pants this fall.
- Add a jacket or blazer; jackets are everywhere in all styles (and it’s that “third piece” that really completes your outfit) — bonus points if it’s cropped.
- Hello, corduroy – yes, you read that right.
- Denim skirts are back.
- Lots of boots (but that’s nothing new), what we are seeing a lot of is flats (loafers and ballet flats).
Check back later this week to see how we took our favorite pieces and styled them three ways.
Megan’s New Fall Fashion Finds
The magical “third piece” has been my focus this fall. From cropped jackets to scarves, having that third piece makes every outfit “finished.” Cargo pants and old school penny loafers are having a moment this fall. AND DENIM SKIRTS! Oh hey 90’s… we’re back!
Denim A-line Midi Skirt
This denim skirt is giving me all the 90’s vibes I can handle. I’ll wear with sweaters and clogs. Can’t wait to work this into rotation.
Suede Shoulder Bag
Labor Day is over, time to switch up that straw bag ladies. This cutie comes in black, cobalt blue and tan. Perfect size.
Burberry Scarf
This showed up on Nordstrom’s website under “New Arrivals”, I guess what’s old is new again? This classic Burberry scarf is the ultimate third piece. An investment but a timeless one — like an heirloom piece? Wear it now with white jeans and a tee shirt and in the dead of winter wear it around your neck with your heavy coat. Instant elevation to any outfit.
Sunglasses
A year round essential, sunglasses transform you from mom on the go to incognito movie star.
Classic Penny Loafer in Black
I asked one of my personal style icons (hi kd!) what she was shopping for this fall and her answer? Really comfortable loafers that you can walk in for days. Here they are, tried and true, casual enough for jeans and leggings yet fancy enough for a tux.
Boiled Wool Cropped Jacket
Green is having a moment this year, especially olive. This cropped jacket spoke to me, with it’s asymmetrical notched collar and soft fabric. A perfect third piece.
Sweater Jacket
These layering pieces in unexpected colors are the perfect third piece to any closet. I’m loving the collar/pocket/button details on this one. Works as a blazer or a sweater.
Moto Boots (Waterproof)
Nothing says “bad ass mama” like a pair of moto boots. These are also waterproof (bonus points!). I’m looking at these boots to make my preppy suburban house wife look a bit edgier without going all in.
Short Sleeve Lady Jacket
The ultimate fall transition piece. Wear now with white jeans and a white tank and black sandals; wear later with black suiting pants, dark denim, coated denim or leather. This is the third piece that will get us through the warm fall months.
Cropped Corduroy Jacket
Sick of your jean jacket? Meet her lovely cousin, the corduroy cropped jacket in navy. If it’s time to switch it up, this is a great replacement.
Cargo Pants
The fashion Gods have spoken and they ALL agree — Cargo pants are IN. You can find them at fast fashion retailers and bougie boutiques, everyone is selling a pair this fall. I’m trying this budget friendly pair from the Gap, if I wear them a lot I’ll invest in a pair of fancy pants.

Christa’s New Fall Fashion Finds
The rich hues, like the plums and greens, of the current fall trends definitely are catching my eye! I think my new fall fashion finds would be a great start to a capsule wardrobe. Just add in some wide leg jeans and a pair of black pants, and you’ll be able to build outfits for every occasion, from casual errands to dressier date night.
Old Navy Long-Sleeve Split-Neck Top
Ladies, don’t wait on this blouse. It’s perfect, and it’s a steal! It’s giving designer vibes without a designer price tag! And it’s one of those pieces you’ll wear with everything. (That’s the name of the game to maximize our wardrobe budget and buy more thoughtfully.) Runs true to size, and it’s a soft flowy fabric. This comes in black, cream and olive, as well as two other patterns — and there is nothing wrong with buying a few colors so you have options.
Sam Edelman Meadow Ballet Flats
Ballet flats are trending again for Fall 2023 (read more about shoe trends HERE). I tried a few pairs, and these were by fair the most comfortable. They come in eight colors/patterns on Zappos, and a few more on the Sam Edelman site. I love the squared toes and the texture of this black pair — something a little different than a basic black flat. Size tip: if in between, size down.
Wit & Wisdom ‘Ab’Solution Skyrise Wide Leg Pants
If I could wear these everyday, I think I would. As soon as I put them on, I knew they were a keeper. These pants are PERFECTION. If you need an upgrade to your black pants, try something with a wider leg this fall. These are seriously like pajamas, ladies, but look so chic with a pair of heels. (And as Megan reminded me, a cute little platform sneaker and my favorite jean jacket makes them perfect for running errands!
Evereve Cece Beaded Bracelet Set
Just a fun little pop of fall color! Such a simple find, but it really is perfect this season. The colors are definitely on trend and who doesn’t love a little bracelet stack to dress up their look, under $60.
White Mountain Manning Loafer Pump
I did not expect to like these as much as I did. Originally I bought them in the brown color, but I think I’ll wear the black more. Pair them with wide leg bottoms, everything from denim to trousers. They are very comfortable, 3.25″ high, but have a 1″ platform.
Old Navy Shaker Stitch Cardigan
I am a sucker for a camel/black stripe sweater. This one is a great style and under $50. Also available in 7 solid colors. Old Navy continues to be an affordable option for on trend clothes.
Olympia Dress from Evereve
It’s the color and the pattern that drew me to this dress. This could easily be worn now, later, spring, fall, most anytime. It’s an easy style to wear dressy or casual, so versatile. And the length (37 1/2″) isn’t too short (I’m 5’4″ and usually look for a dress that’s around 36″.)
Ann Taylor Geo Mixed Media Ruffle Tie Neck Top
Clearly I have a thing for this season’s plum color. Love this blouse as a transition piece now, and a layering piece all winter. These “mixed media” tops from Ann Taylor and LOFT are always so comfortable – this one has a satin sheen to it, yet feels like a t-shirt. I’m 5’4″ and sized found the petite fit better in the length. It’s super cte paired with jeans and the jacket below.
Ann Taylor Mock Neck Patch Pocket Jacket
I purchased this AT jacket last year in black, and love it. So glad they brought it back for all of you — and this plum color is perfectly on trend for 2023! If you’re looking for a versatile “third piece” in your closet, this one is it. I love how they styled it with the striped blouse and jeans, but you could wear this with so many pieces, including the dress and blouse above. It’s available in both regular and petite, sizes 00 to 20/22.
